In the post titled Halloween in Japan and CNN’s Lack of Research [en] the blogger says to “be surprised and appalled” by the superficiality with which some of their articles treat the Japanese culture and customs.

The NBC News division allowed morning host Joe Scarborough to donate to his GOP pals then suspended Keith Olbermann because he made donations to his democratic pals. Sorry boys, once you made the exception for Joe, you lost the right to control Keith’s contributions and here is why => you cannot claim the right to rule on the validity of Olbermann’s political choices versus Scarborough’s and that is the only possible reason left to deny Olbermann the same rights given Scarborough.And then there's this from Doug Powers: Classic: MSNBC Names Olbermann’s Fill-In Host, Then Has to Let Him Go For Same Reason
NBC News President Steve Capas cannot agree to allow staff contributions to Republicans and then disallow them to Democrats or vice versa. He was stupid to agree to Scarborough’s request but once he did, he lost the right to rule on or even receive other requests. And, he makes a huge mistake that insults his viewers by imposing the no contributions rule in the first instance. He demonstrates an outdated assumption that viewers are unable to discern fact from opinion once they have any inkling of the reporter’s personal beliefs.
It is the same simplistic view that caused NPR to fire Juan Williams for revealing personal views on FOX News broadcasts. So what! Should Alan Chartock be removed from the air because he has revealed liberal leanings on the radio? Can we no longer listen to Chartock’s excellent interviews because we now know what the interviewer might personally be thinking? Of course not. We don’t need news managers deciding we are too stupid to be able to see past such personal beliefs by a reporter.
I for one would be far more inclined to watch an a hostless MSNBC show featuring an empty desk than any other option they’ll think of — unless of course it’s discovered that the desk is also a Dem donor.
